fun blue blocks from Making A Lather

I have fun tiny houses

and wonky stars

The color for July and the rainbow scrap challenge is dark blue. I have plenty of scraps in those colors. I find that the triangles I cut, from the flip corners on the roof of the houses, work well for the wonky stars.
I am also working on Jamestown landing this month since it is all blue. I have half of it put together. And, I have all the rows made.

pink progress from Making A Lather

Happy fourth of July. May God bless America.

Last Saturday, we lost power during a short thunderstorm. When we lose power, we also lose water and flush toilets. I didn't get a chance to post the last of my pink projects for the rainbow scrap challenge. And, I didn't get a chance to visit other blogs for my weekly inspiration. I really missed that.
I make the wonky stars from 2 inch scraps and leftover triangle pieces.

I make the tiny houses from 2 inch scraps.

My final count for the pink dresdens is 12. That is a ...

odds and ends from Making A Lather

Oh my, I see in the picture, one of my shoofly has a HST turned the wrong way. sigh... I didn't see it before blogging about it.
In an effort to tidy around my sewing machine, I made a few random blocks. I need to attach a binding and if I don't clean everything will end up in a jumbled mess on the floor. haha
These shoofly blocks are made with the gifted hsts from the orphan adoption at Oh scrap.

green challenge from Making A Lather

I dug and found these little bits of green for wonky tiny stars, but didn't get them made. I don't even remember what distracted me.

I worked on tiny houses and country roads. I don't have a plan and number for these blocks. I suppose I will have to beef up the number I make each month, to actually make something, but, for now, I am just playing around with scraps.

Tiny Houses from Elaine Adair Pieces

These were inspired by a recent video from Jenny Doan of MSQCo.  So cute!  You can't make just one at a time  -- sit down and cut a lot of each of the pieces, then make several in just a few minutes.  Fabric was from my throwaways, and I noticed that the almost-solids seemed to work best.  Some interesting  characters are sneaking in the front doors.  No plan for these little houses but it's fun at the moment.

tiny blocks from Making A Lather

I found several blue scrap pieces small enough for the houses and the wonky stars. Note to self, If I start with houses, I will automatically have little triangles for the stars. Rumor has it that Kathy from Sane, crazy, crumby quilts is working on her top of tiny houses. She was the inspiration for these cute blocks. I can't wait to see it.

I don't really like making the stars - it takes longer than it looks, but, they are so cute, and I feel so virtuous using such little bits. Blue is the color for April for ...

blossoms from Making A Lather

I try to sew something everyday that is not on a list. Although, the same things get chosen, so, in a way, there is "that" list. I have projects that I really want to see progress, even if slowly. But, I have some "other" projects without any plan for the finish. Blossom time ( Bonnie Hunter) is one of them. I cut a few scraps and then sew them. Then, I cut a few more and sew them. In this weird time, aimless has it's appeal.

Country roads and wonky houses and stars, are for the rainbow scrap challenge, but ...

irish chain quilt from Making A Lather

This week I worked on the rainbow irish chain blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge. I have been able to stay current with this quilt.

I found some little bits of teal/ aqua that I made into more of my little blocks.

I think I have everything done for March in teal /aqua, and I am ready for a new color.

shine blocks from Making A Lather

I have the orange blocks finished for shine quilt. I almost missed this second orange, because it was more coral to me. But, it really is orange next to pink. It definitely looks orange on the computer.

I fell in love with cathy's  at sane crazy crumbly quilts  tiny houses quilt.
She has been making houses with the rainbow scrap challenge for awhile, and, I had fun searching for them on her blog. And, then, I wanted to try them too. They are fun and dandy.

I think all I have left for orange is the row x row ...
